Reasons Why Free Website Builders Suck

There are many free website builders available online today. You only need to search for “free website builders” and you will get a whole plethora of online sites offering you a multitude of functions to get your site online. While website builders are great because they are usually easy to use and can help beginners learn the ropes of web design, free builders have a lot of drawbacks. Here are some of them:

  • They Aren’t Really Free

Many free online website builders come with lots of different features. But features that are most helpful or most important do not come free. Most of the time these websites will charge users in order to use these features. Some website builders also offer “free” hosting along with their web building services. However this free hosting is not really free as you will be asked for a fee when you need disk space upgrades and other similar services.

  • Won’t Have Own Domain

If you use other people’s websites to create your own website you won’t have your own domain. Usually it’s going to look something like this: yourbusinessname.freewebsitebuilder.com. Another bad thing about this is that they will sometimes display ads alongside your free website to offset the cost of hosting your site. This will make your website look unprofessional.

  • Limited Functionality

As stated earlier, free website builders have limited functionality. Aside from making a website out of limited resources provided by the website builder, all you can really do on a site hosted this way is add content. Sooner or later disk space and upgrades will become a problem.

  • Hard To Rank

When it comes to search engine optimization, it is possible to get a decent website ranking. However, keep in mind that search engine rank is determined by authority among other things. Having your website hosted this seems like you can’t afford to buy your own website and therefore you lose not only your authority but also your credibility.
