SEO Myths 2

Our next few posts will dispel a number of SEO myths that have been plaguing our efforts to teach and educate America to have a transparent and clear understanding of what SEO is really all about. Additionally, let me also take a moment to encourage you to pick up the phone, and ask one of our search engine optimization experts about anything here, or anything else you might have heard regarding search engine optimization.

• We have been around for a long time and are really well known/easily recognized, so we don’t have to do SEO. The internet has no idea who you are. It’s software. And the part of the software that you care about it software made by Google. It’s not a person pulling on a bunch of levers making snap decisions. Target, I know them…put that number one. ABC Widget company, what’s that? Page 12. The system (Google’s system primarily, the one you really care about) is an algorithm. Pure and simple, a complex program and system designed to calculate your position based on countless things, like Page Rank, Links, Google Indexed Pages, the amount of times your Keywords appear in the body of your domain, etc. No matter how big or small you are, if the numbers and the SEO foundation aren’t present, Google won’t just automatically recognize you. If you ask one of our search engine optimization experts for help, we can custom tailor a search engine optimization campaign to fit your needs.

I learned a solid new SEO trick/strategy from someone at a seminar and now I have the key to the city. Most of the advanced tools and tactics you learn at conferences and sites like this one only work after you’ve properly optimized the basic SEO foundation of your site. Most advanced tactics and tricks are dependent on the basics, and do not replace them. Let me restate: they are additions to a proper foundation. In fact, most advanced methodologies won’t even work unless you have the basics properly in place already. The wider the base of your ever growing SEO foundation, the higher your rankings can go until you’re number one. Let our search engine optimization experts show you the continued path and how going above and beyond a good basic foundation can continue to improve your pages rankings.

• I’ve got lots of links, so I don’t need to build more. Umm, no. You see, as we’ve previously discussed, most engines look at lots of factors related to links, including age. Old, or ‘established’ links typically indicate authority (as they’ve been there a long time) whereas new ones tend to indicate freshness and relevance to your specific keyword, niche, or product. You can get by with either, but it’s best to have both authority and relevance. Because both is the better way, and the total number is cumulative, the best thing you can do is to associate with a long term link building campaign. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for. Google has become quite sophisticated at this point, so it recognizes if your link was anchor texted, posted at www.garbage.com, or posted at all. If you get 1000 links for 15 dollars, I wouldn’t expect much. Our trained SEO experts can start a link building campaign for you, or focus on a complete search engine optimization campaign.

Kicking off an SEO program is a slow process and always takes months to complete. This is a self-serving myth that can buy the SEO firm or consultant a lot of time to keep you paying while they aren’t performing. This can be the case, but it doesn’t have to be. Ask your SEO expert for detailed reports and analytics so you can observe their work in a transparent fashion and gain some good accountability on their efforts for you.
