Does Link Popularity Matter?

Does Link Popularity Matter?

Normally, there's no need for the average website to really dwell on link popularity. Yes, you'll want to keep it in mind, and of course you should make sure that your site link-worthy, but don’t overly focus on it, as its not holy grail of search engine optimization.  Based on our experience (and contrary to popular belief), link popularity only constitutes a minute portion of most of the search engines' ranking algorithms.  Arguably, Google places more emphasis than most other engines on incoming links at this point, but let’s also keep in mind that they pretty much wrote the book on Page Rank. How much these incoming links are actually improving a site's ranking is debatable and truly depends on the site, the industry, and where the link came from.  Taking that into account, give Google the credit its worthy of.  If you can tell industry, and the relation to the site a link came from, so can Google.  Ask us about search engine optimization practices that can be used to increase your rank the proper way.  Also, don’t forget that it all depends on the words that are placed in the anchor text (the clickable displayed text). I have found that even just a few highly relevant links with strong anchor text’s can go a long way towards link popularity for most sites.  We also believe that, a quality campaign of link building coming from high end results oriented sites, can be a great benefit.  Ask us about our methods, and the best search engine optimization ideas that can be used to help.

For sites that want to take it to a higher level and are trying to rank highly with extremely competitive keywords (like mortgages, real estate, SEO, etc.) it may be required for your site to actively seek out links from other relevant websites.  Ask us about search engine optimization costs and practices that we can use to help you improve.  This doesn't mean you should go out and create a whole bunch of domains yourself and link them all together because it sounds easier than getting others to link to you.  Garbage1.com – Garbage10.com won’t be looked at as 10 high quality links.  Not only has it been tried and failed, but again, give the geniuses at Google a little credit.  Simply look for sites that are related to your site in some way, and see if they might be interested in promoting your site to their users…maybe in exchange for a link back?

With that suggestion in mind, don’t try sending automatically generated link requests to other sites.  Most Webmasters find them annoying and consider them spam at best.  A personal email may be welcome and usually has a much better effect than auto-anything.  It also wouldn’t kill you to pick up the phone and ask a potential link partner pure and simple.  Remember, very often these links from relevant sites will bring more traffic to your site than a high search engine ranking will bring. New Pulse Management has tried and true search engine optimization practices that work effectively, and we can supply your site with an SEO promotion that will work well for you.

How Do I Get Linked Without Trying

Our preferred way to get links is to basically have the best site on the Internet in your specific category.  Sounds too obvious, and too plain and simple right?  Well guess what…if your site is well written, provides tons of useful information and is constantly updated, you probably won't even have to seek out links at all. Other sites will link to yours because it’s the best related site out there.  Although it is possible to gain links without actively requesting them (other than a few major directories), hundreds of highly relevant sites often add the sites we work on to their list of recommended sites related to our clients, because we structure the basics well.  Ask us about our best SEO prices and practices for improving your site…we’d love to help.
